Business Owners' Area
The purpose of this site is to make ESP more accessible to you the private business owner: to open your eyes to the increase in the exit value of your business that is possible through implementation of an ESP programme, which will establish an exit road map for you and show you how to follow it to the end.

By reading the various case studies and articles in the contributor's area of this site we hope that you will begin to appreciate what can be done through ESP, just as you will realise the problems that could befall you if you don't plan for the day that you will have to quit.

If you believe your business is not ready or suitable at this time for exit planning, but could benefit from our general corporate advisory services, please consult the Buckmaster Hawkey website.

You can contact us to learn more about our organisation and our directors, or to acquire expert assistance to assist you in implementing an ESP programme, or to learn more about the products necessary for the foundations of your exit strategy plan, or you might wish to find out more about John Hawkey's new book Sale or Succession that shows you how to plan for a successful exit from your business.

1. Planned exit

But, before you start the ESP process itself, there are several key questions you will probably wish to have answered, including:

  • What is my business worth?
  • When is the best time for me to exit?
  • What is the optimum exit option for my business?
  • Can minority partners or shareholders block my exit plans?
  • Can I plan to reduce the amount of tax I pay on exit?
  • What aspects of my business will reduce its sale value or make it harder to sell?
  • Who are the potential purchasers of my business?
  • What steps do I need to take to improve my business for sale?

We can clarify the exit mysteries for you and get you started with your ESP planning with our Diagnostic Report. For further information, visit the Diagnostic Report page.

Alternatively, you might wish to conduct a self diagnosis to clearly establish your business and personal aims and aspirations. You can do this by going to the Self-Diagnostic page.

2. Unplanned exit

If you are having difficulties in your business with co-owners and wish to dispose of your interests and exit the business, you probably are not sure what to do. We can help you to resolve your problems with our Dispute Resolution service.
